So the Golden Globes was on Sunday and it wasn't too bad of a show. With Amy and Tina as hosts it made the show just a smidge less of a snooze-fest. But we aren't here to talk about the awards, for us it's all about the fashion! So let's starts off with some fab divas that totally owned the night.
Giuliana Rancic looked like a princess in this gorgeous Maria Lucia Hohan mermaid gown with a precious sweetheart neckline. Honestly I think she was under appreciated for the gorgeous look in other's reports of the night. Giuliana received criticism for some because of her slim figure, calling her "skin and bones." I think she looked absolutely fabulous and should be proud of her body no matter what size it is.
So let's talk about this gorgeous newbie to the Globes. Jane the Virgin star, Gina Rodriguez won a Golden Globe for CW's hit new TV show Jane the Virgin. She looked perfect with her LBD with a twist. The lace at the bottom adds a fun touch to a classic that never goes out of style.
Amy Adams channeled her inner cinderella with this gorgeous powder blue Versace gown. This silhouette looks gorgeous for her figure and the ruching on the top looks absolutely perfect! Amy also went vintage with some gorgeous old Hollywood curls!
Jennifer Lopez looked fantastic. Killin' it with a Zuhair Murad gown complete with plunging neckline, embellished detailing, and a cape. JLO looked so sexy for the globes, everyone seemed to notice. When she was presenting with Jeremy Renner when he commented about her "two golden globes." I don't think JLO should be embarrassed! Girl if you got it, work it!
Kevin Hart walked the red carpet with his lovely fiancé. And wow! Are they not a fierce couple or what? I had to give Kevin a shoutout for his killer suit! Staying fairly traditional with the black jacket, bow tie, and pant, but still dressing it up with that great white lining. Kevin proves that "small" details can make a huge difference.
Now that you've seen the oh so fab stars, let's see the ones that deserve the "you tried" sticker.
These two hosts were perfect for hosting, but for fashion? Amy looked great with her Cobalt blue gown. The ruching near her waist can be dangerous for some figures, but Amy looked great! Now Tina on the other hand... Don't get me wrong I love half of her dress. The gorgeous beading and black/white contrast was absolutely stunning. The bottom is where it got rough. The baggy "half filled balloon" look did not flatter her figure and almost made her look larger. The length didn't help the look either, drawing more attention to her lower half. Tina, don't get too crazy with it,sometimes less is more.
50 shades of grey star, Dakota Johnson didn't look so hot the other night. Now, we love the silhouette on her. Perfect for her figure and the tiny train in the back was gorgeous for the occasion. Dakota should take my advice that I gave to Tina, less is more. These sequins are overwhelming! And the disco ball look does NOT make you the life of the party. Yes, sequin embellishing can make your dress look gorgeous. But too much can make your dress look like a 12 year old's dream.
Okay this one is hard because I really do love Lana Del Rey, but this gown was just a nope for me. The color looked great on her and made her stand out from the sea of red and black. The silhouette did nothing however for her figure which is quite a shame. The pleating running down her gown made her silhouette look larger than it actually is and did not flatter at all. The deep neckline didn't disappoint, and was almost the silver lining to her gown.
Amanda Peet definitely went for the boho flowy vibe and yes that look does look great. But the occasion? Not the best gown for the Globes. The loose fit dress compared to the tight fitting and slandering dresses of others makes this one look baggy and sloppy. The color is gorgeous and the dress itself isn't a bad dress. It just reveals no shape in Amanda at all. The sheer detail and the deep neckline might have bumped this gown go decent for Globes.
So globes this year was all about deep necklines, slender dresses, and gorgeous (not overwhelming) embellishments!
Tell us what you think! Great looks or total flops?
XOXO,
