7 signs it's time to call it quits

7 signs it's time to call it quits

We get it. Sometimes you don't have time to shop until late at night. But often store employees find themselves waiting long after they have closed to actually close up shop. So if you don't notice the signs already, here are some signs to knowing that the store is closing and you should wrap up your trip.

Salespeople keep talking to you
Most sales associates try to be nice while also getting you out at a reasonable time. If you are still browsing with ten minutes or less until closing, you are bound to get the "you still doing okay?" That's a sign that maybe you should check the time and getting moving.

They turn the music off
Most stores turn off their music about closing time if not a little before. Shopping music is mostly white noise until it's gone. Then it's super awkward. The silence is a sign to hurry it up because the employees want to go home too. And no turning off the music is not to please you if you don't like it. The employees would have done that before for their own sake.

They start cleaning
Now they aren't going to start mopping or vacuuming. But they will probably start cleaning mirrors or do small chores, hoping you'll get the hint. That and they can get their chores done faster. When you see them whip out the cleaning supplies check the clock or ask what time they close.

They announce their closing

Bigger stores make it easier for customers by announcing, " we are closing in 20 minutes so hurry up." But smaller stores often don't tell the customer to avoid being rude. When working at the mall, we would get yelled at for telling customers it was time to go. It depends on the store if you get an FYI on the time. Just be aware before you go in.

They lock you in
Obviously not forever. But stores after they close will lock the doors so that no other customers come in. If you are inside you don't have to freak and hurry out. Just continue on in your shopping just at a brisk pace.

They turn the lights off

Not all of the lights of course. If some of the lights have turned off then you know you have been in that store way too late. Most stores stall/clean until you are ready, but if they have done that and turned off part of the lights, gah damn. Girl, you best hurry because those employees want to go grab some food and you are delaying them.

They start ringing up your already picked out purchases

Obviously they are trying to hurry you up. If you still need to shop around go for it. Them and your pile won't be going anywhere. Just know that your total of $100 bucks will be waiting for you and you better not decide to put it all back and leave. Or we will judge you forever. :)

Now, we get it. You're life is crazy. You have work, kids, other issues, but so do the employees of that store. It's fine to be a late night shopper, just be aware of the time and your cleanliness (because that tee you threw on the table has to be folded by someone.)

Goodnight Night Fashionistas!
XOXO,
S
